Shimba Hills Game Reserve Tour
Shimba hills national reserve is a small park in the coast province ,It cover an area of 220 km2 and gazetted in 1968.The reserve is an area of coastal rainforest ,woodland , grass land and tropical. The game reserve hold one of the largest areas of coastal rain forest in East Africa after Arabuko Sokoke.
There are estimated to be approximately 700 elephants in the reserve, this population is un stainable high becauseĀit couses significant damage to the vegetation threatening the endangered plant life. The Reserve, serves as Kenya's last remaining habitat of the Rare Sable Antelope the reserve is also home to elephants, buffalo, the dramatic black and white colobus monkeys, leopard, bush babies, a variety of birds.
What's include
We shall explore the Shimba hills on foot where accompanied by our guide, we shall walk on the Shedrick Falls on a 1/2 hour hike as we marvel at the water cascade. We shall later stop for lunch at the Shimba lodge where we may have an option to take a nature walk around the tree lodge or simply enjoy the surrounding views from the balconies of the lodge.
