Shimba Hills Game Reserve Tour

Shimba hills national reserve is a small park in the coast province ,It cover an area of 220 km2 and gazetted in 1968.The reserve is an area of coastal rainforest ,woodland , grass land and tropical. The game reserve hold one of the largest areas of coastal rain forest in East Africa after Arabuko Sokoke.

There are estimated to be approximately 700 elephants in the reserve, this population is un stainable high becauseĀ–it couses significant damage to the vegetation threatening the endangered plant life. The Reserve, serves as Kenya's last remaining habitat of the Rare Sable Antelope the reserve is also home to elephants, buffalo, the dramatic black and white colobus monkeys, leopard, bush babies, a variety of birds.

What's include

We shall explore the Shimba hills on foot where accompanied by our guide, we shall walk on the Shedrick Falls on a 1/2 hour hike as we marvel at the water cascade. We shall later stop for lunch at the Shimba lodge where we may have an option to take a nature walk around the tree lodge or simply enjoy the surrounding views from the balconies of the lodge.

Itinerary

AT 06:00 AM Pickup from Hotel for Shimba Hills

Depart early in the morning from your hotel at 06:00 am to shimba hills National Reserves. Immediately we arrive, we Check in and then start the morning drive. Some of the animals here are hard to spot, therefore we shall rover much during the first quater of the game so as we can see as many animals as possible.

AT 09:30 AM Morning / Break Stop Over

At this time of the games we shall have a stop over where we shall gather in one of the designing relaxing points within the National reserve. We shall take like 30 - 45 min just talking, having fun and meanwhile taking soft drink stocked in our jeep.

AT 10:30 PM After First Break

We shall have our second phase of the games which will take like 2hrs before we head for lunch at the Shimba Hills Lodge. At this time of the day we shall have ample chances of seeing different species of wild animals, like sable Antelop, buffalos, and elephants

AT 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch At Shimba Hills Lodge

We shall have our lunch at the lodge. An award winning tree lodge set in a refreshingly cool forest setting despite being only 45 minutes drive from the hot, humid coastal city of Mombasa / Diani. The lodge overlooks a waterhole and is a bird and animal watcher's paradise.

AT 14:00 - 16:00 PM Afternoon Game Drive

After a delicious lunch and a short rest we shall have an evening game drive thereafter depart back to your Beach Hotel later in the evening. We shall also visit shedrack water falls escorted by a ranger, this is a nature walk in style. Later we shall head back to our hotel.
